First PLWH Conference held in Subotica 23 – 25 March 2011

I. PLHIV conferences in Serbia logo

Union Organization of Serbia involved in the protection of people living with HIV (USOP) held in Palic in the period from 23st to 25thMarch 2011.The "First PLHIV conference in Serbia ", which is considered the first conference of this subject and type in the region.Conference participants were people living with HIV, civil society, organizations, central government institutions and health care institutions that in many way deal with issues of HIV and prevention, treatment, care and support for people living with HIV / AIDS .
All participants through a three-day work had the opportunity through lectures and interactive workshops to explore the issues related to HIV, as well as the activities of USOP's. Through a three-day operation of defining the situation in Serbia in this field and find suggestions for solving the current problems related to HIV / AIDS, conference participants adopted a declaration which should be a guideline in their work, work of USOP and all other organizations, institutions and individuals in response to the HIV pandemic. As such a declaration was adopted and signed by 81 participants  of         first PLHIV conference in Serbia, and the same was forwarded to all relevant authorities in both Serbian and the international levels.
In addition to workshops and conferences, in the evening participants had a fun-time.  The confewrence was ended with a cocktail reception on wich were invited officials of the state, province and local government of Subotica, the Declaration was read, which delighted all present, it was greeted with loud applause as for the union of association  wich are fighting issues concerning HIV / AIDS at the national level.
The conference was held thanks to the donor - the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva, while support was provided by: Youth of Jazas Belgrade, Ministry of Health project unit 6 R GF, National Office for HIV / AIDS, UNAIDS and other organizations and institutions dealing with HIV / AIDS.
